Default How bad is this for the engine?

I'm looking into buying a new car, and I have my eyes set on a pretty nice 94 GT. It was made for a supercharger and has 8.5:1 compression because of it. It's still quick just because the exhaust, cam, intake, heads... basically everything has been redone as well. Anyways, if I bought it, I'd drive it around for at the most a year, least 6 months, without adding a supercharger back one (he sold it seperately). It's running just a tad rich too.

How bad would that be, running a car meant for a supercharger w/ 8.5 compression and a little rich (will probably get that fixed though) for a year tops before a supercharger is back on?

its not the best thing but you won't kill anything. you could flood your shit out but i don't see that it would be that bad....you could just back the fuel presure down and that would fix a good part of the problem.

Default good deal

Good deal, there's a fuel pressure reg on it so I can back it off if I need to. Now... just waiting for my auto-loan check to get it so I can go buy it. Thanks for the speedy replies guys. Hrmm... going to have to change my forum name, doh.

Also, the car is going to feel like a DOG.. With that low of compression, it will have somewhere in the area of ... hmmmm... 0 torque... without the supercharger.. lol .. It will go forward, it just wont be very exciting

like FordMan said get a compression check, because with 8.5:1 that is damn low and I would assume that he must have been putting a GOOD amount of boost into the motor. Most people that go with a lower compersion piston and a blower go with higher compersion then that.

if it is really rich just change the oil very frequently and you'll be fine
