Default alternator fuse for ranger

I replaced a bad alternator with a new one and it won't charge the battery.

Is there a fuse that might of poped with the old alternator?

Yes there is always a fuse for the Alternator. Need to know what year Ranger to know where the fuse is, but it should be in the Under hood fuse box.

well I replaced the alternator and the fuse for the alternator and the car dies when I take the jumper cables off.

What could be the problem?

I would check the leads going from the alterator to the solonoid, sounds like a wire is burnt in two or disconnected. Is the battery in the Ranger any good? Even if the alternator isnt working, should start and run on a good battery without a jump

the rangers run a 10ga charge wire and in this wire is a fuseable link that most likely poped one thing you can do and this will also help the truck out is ran a new 4 ga charge wire go to a custom shop and ask for a good 4 ga wire about 3-4 ft should be good and then also do a new engine ground to the battery with 4ga i think this will fix your car.
