Question... Why the 185's? I thought the 165's were great for a 302?

I dont think the 165's would hit the number I am looking to make. 700+rwhp ?????????

I have a Novi 2000 pushing everything and the 185's have a higher rshared_pm potential.

Plus if I stroke it to a 331 later, I can still use them.

I have seen 165's and 185's on the same 306, dyno out N/A at low 400's to 430's. The 185's will make more power.

Got it! I guess I was thinking of the typical n/a 302 goal of 300rwhp. Always heard the 165's were a good match for that goal.

What so you think about the Z heads? I can get then with the Ford roller rockers for like $1100. I can get X heads for $900,

Decisions decisions???

I need to run an inline head. Or how much can you get away with on the TW Fast As Cast heads? I think I have read .550 is max.

Ford says that due to the revized water passages I need the new X or Z heads, or modify aftermarkets to have a extra steam hole. Some say it'll work either way.

??????

I have been tempted to have Harold port the GT40P's I have and just run the current set up in the new block. Hell, with a tune and MSD, it should be in the 550 rwhp range. It hit 486 with no tune or MSD already and with the 22 yr old stock shortblock. I cant use the power I have now.

It looks like the bug truck is coming everytime I nail it is 1st or 2nd.

Time for DR's too.

Lol, Bens not worried about 300hp anymore. Hell, he made 480 on the setup he has now with the stock longblock.

Read up and compare the "X" heads to the "Z" heads. From what I get, the "X" heads perform better after being CNC'd and cerma-coated compared to the "Z" heads.
