I was told it has a class B cam and I know it has moroso roller rockers. I'm a want-a-be mechanic. I'll have to research the "how to" on the tuning of the carb.

I used the stock fuel lines. I just cut the line before charcoal can and mounted it right there. noisy bastard.

still not bad for under $1100. I need another $50 in asprin.

Your fuel pump should be mounted as close to the tank as possible. (Holley Blues work best as pushers IIRC)

On the carb, it's really not that difficult to do.

What is the list number on the carb? (hint, it's located on the choke horn and says something like "LIST 1850-5" or something)

Have you purchased an accelerator pump cam set yet? How about a few different jet sets?

The jets being the wrong size GENERALLY won't make it sputter. If it's sputtering upon tip in, then it is likely a problem with the accelerator pump cam. Basically, you are getting too much oxygen, not enough petrol. If it's sputtering more on the top end, then you may still be running out of fuel due to your fuel line SIZE. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge in it? This would help a lot.

That pump is useless mointed in the front, it has to be mounted in the back.
It is a 600 vac secondary....its not a tip in stumble...when I heard it, it was more like it was running out of fuel up higher in the rpms.
As far as the timing, I didnt put a light on it, I just put the teeth in the right spot and timed it by ear. Only messed with it for20 minutes or so

a couple guys mentioned fuel pressure, i think 7 lbs is just about right for carbeurated (getting old and barely remember carbs). Too much fuel pressure can act the same as too little fuel pressure fyi. (breaking up on high rpms.) it will also cause probs in the acc. pump. another thing, actually check your fuel lines, if they are old and cracked they could be sucking air at higher rpms causing the car to go lean. (assuming you have rubber fuel lines part of the way like most people)
