Also if we are talking most HP per liter, then the s2000 F20c comes in first there...Naturally aspirated that is... they make 200hp @ 2 liters, 100hp per liter...

Imagine if the Ford 5.0 was like that....500hp stock mustang !!!!! yeah!!

my vote goes to 2jz-gte
quote from wikipedia I believe
2JZ-GTE
The 2JZ-GTE was developed to power the fourth generation of the Supra sports car. It was based on the 2JZ-GE, but differed in its use of twin turbochargers. The use of twin CT12B turbochargers raised its power output from a mere 166 kW (225 bhp DIN) to 206 kW (280 bhp DIN) at 5600 rpm, officially limited in the Japanese and European markets, although the real undisclosed figure was well in excess of 300 bhp (224 kW).
In the North American and European market, power was raised to 239 kW (320 hp SAE)/243kW (330hp [DIN]) at the same engine speed of 5600 rshared_pm. The export version of the 2JZ-GTE achieved its higher power output due to different turbochargers (stainless steel for export models, ceramic for Japanese models), camshafts, and larger injectors (550 cc/min for export markets, 440 cc/min for Japanese models). Because the primary mechanical differences between the export (CT12B) and Japanese (CT20A) model turbines are the size and material of the exhaust-side shaft (stainless steel exhaust-side shaft for export models vs ceramic shaft for JDM models), one can replace the JDM's ceramic shaft with the steel variant found in export model. In tuning groups, in spite of the lack of actuators for both turbines, the factory turbochargers are often retained after mild engine modification due to the highly durable housings and use of stainless steel for the impeller and turbo fins in the export models. In light of the above as well as the due to the use of forged internals throughout the engine, the 2JZ-GTE is well-known for requiring no internal modification to cope with the stress associated with high-boosting turbines, and has actually achieved 1000HP at the flywheel hp with bone stock internals.

Here is a link to some guys going low 9's with a stock motor. This is a little dated, and people may have gone faster by now.

Interesting. What can these longblocks be bought for?

New from Ford Racing, they are about $16k. There is a motor and 6spd trans on eBay right now for $12k (see link below). I have heard of people selling them from closer to $7500-$8000. Pricey for sure, but no more than the 2003 cobra motors were when they were a year or two old. They will come down to earth.

Yeah I didnt think about the Bugatti. There was a thing about them on the Discovery channel the other night. I totally spaced out and forgot the motors in those. 1000hp is hard to dismiss.

But,.. I've still read where several guys are claiming to have put down between 900 - 1100 on the stock 03/04 Terminator short block. And there is a guy with a Forg GT I think he is local or from O-town or possibly soutch fla somewhere,.. but I know he frequents Tampa a lot,.. anyway,.. he's supposed to be pushing 1200 hp using twin turbos on the stock short block in his Ford GT. This is the guy that races the Hayabusa's for $10k or pinks and keeps a stack of ForSale signs behind his seat.

So the Ford mod motors,.. particularly the modular blocks are bar none the best factory produced blocks. There are several factory blocks in pro stock cars making 1500 - 1600hp.

The new Coyote engines are still using the same bore spacing and same basic design as the original mod motors. I mean 400hp NA from 5.0 liters with a warranty and mass produced is pretty impressive to me.
