Choosing a cam...
I'm trying to pick out a cam for my Torino. It's a 302/C4. Stock trans, converter and rear end. I put an Edelbrock 650 and aluminum intake on it and headers. I don't really have a specific power figure but I'm looking for that lopey idle and good power. I picked up CraneCams from craigslist with a set of springs for cheap but I think its more cam than I can use. I was told with non-adjustable rockers I can only have .500 lift max and the exhaust on the Crane is .527. Will this cam work and give me what I want or what specs should I be looking for?
What about something like COMP Cams 31-414-3 - COMP Cams Magnum Hydraulic Camshafts - Overview - SummitRacing.com? Is that too much duration? Sorry for being a noob, but I kinda am one haha

If its the old rail style rockers you can go over.500 lift. just grind the rails down on the rockers a little so they dont contact the retainer. the press in studs should be ok as long as the spring pressure is not too much, or we used to pin them. the cam you asked about is a little much without a converter. I would keep it around .480 and a little less duration especially if the car is heavy and has highway gears. how much does it weigh. and what gear ratio in the rear ?
