Default Help picking out an ignition

I need to figure out what box I should be looking at.The car will see a very good amount of boost,so it will need to retard higher than the 15psi on the btm.I have a Digital 6 Plus, and I'm not looking at stepping to a 7 series for a street car.Any suggestions will be appreciated.Maybe the 6al2 programable? Is it capable of retard for 30psi?Thanks

The programmable 6AL2 is bad ass for the money..... I am using one on my junk and it works great..... It will do 25 deg of retard, it also does timing curve and 3 step.....

That's some funny shit,I was looking through your build thread and almost pm'ed you but decided to make a post.I know I remember reading that I'd need a certin amount of retard(I think 1degree) per pound of boost up until about 15lbs,then 2 degrees per pound after.Seem right?I'm not positive, but I'll do some more research. Thanks for the reply.

With this box you can pull at any ramp rate you want..... I have my dist locked at 40 deg, I have the timing curve set up so it has 22 at idle and advances from 22 to 40 from 1000 rpm to 2 000 rpm..... My boost curve doesn't actually pull any timing until 4 lbs and then takes a total of 20 deg out by 12.5 lbs..... So that leaves me with 20 total when it is at full boost.....

But like I said you can do basically anything you want with the timing and boost curves in this thing.....

Franks 6al2 looks like it performs.....but if its gonna be for a racecar...better go with the digital 7. Some good info and feedback from racers on the bullet. Is it expensive , Holy Fawk! but you'll only buy once.
I'll be runnung one...radials have a lot to do with my decision, and being able to ramp it

I've been doing alot of reading on the 7's but two things are making me say no.Price and alot of people are saying the 7's eat plugs very fast. This will be a street car,so finding a ignition thats not gonna leave my ass stranded on a Sat night is what I'm leaning toward.

Frank, thanks for the info,it looks like I'll be good to go with a 3bar map and the 6al2prog. as long as I can bring the boost in on a good ramp.

You dont need a digital 7 then.....Its geared for tuning / adjustability for the track to get a car to hook out of the hole. There would be too much of it you wouldnt use. 30lbs and street....good luck!

I'd run what Frank is running and buy a AMS-500 to control the boost for a street killah

It's only a little 306,so it's not gonna be a torque monster,we'll,until the spray comes on I actually though about all the stuff I wouldn't use too, seemed like overkill.I already have the AMS-500 so were good there..

Frank,I read that it can do a nitrous shot too right?
