its a 94 gt

i never said its misfiring it just feels like it has a rough idle like if it had a cam in it (which it doesnt though has stock internals) but then other days it runs smooth and then itl run rough again.

i'll try replacing the thermostat just for sh*ts and giggles but im pretty sure i installed it right but you guys recommend a 160* ???

Sounds like too me, you have a couple different issues, that may not be related. When is the last time you done a full tune-up? Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter ect. Cleaned the MAF and IAC?

Rough idle usually involves a misfire. Do a 160* thermostat and what ^^ said.

Do not put a 160 degree stat in it. The car will run too rich because it never reaches operating temperature. Just stck a 180 in and drill an 1/8" pilot hole if there is none. Pull all your plugs and check them for deposits on the electrodes. Also you can do a compression check on all the cylinders.

Who is this guy? 160* = run cooler, not richer. Thermostat has nothing to do with how you're injectors/jets are unloading fuel,... I.E. run richer/leaner. You do realize the 160* is when the thermostat opens, not what the car is gonna stay and run at...?

Anyone running a 160* Thermostat here besides me and not having any rich/lean issues?

Only thing I understood about it, relating to the mans issue's with his Mustang, is checking the plugs...

It's not the tstat but how the computer reads it. Installing a 160 degree thermostat is a trick from back in the early days of EEC IV fuel injection. The 86-88 speed-density cars didn't have a mass air meter to tell the computer that more air was flowing into the engine when you ported the intake & heads, installed headers, etc. So the cars would run lean at Wide Open Throttle (WOT). The 160 degree thermostat would keep the coolant temperature down so the EEC would richen the mixture.
