What would your formula be?
I've seen a bone stock bottom end 302 in a coupe with 4 cylinder suspension , 289 heads a victor jr , basically a stock fox body . no suspension mods at all run 6.90 at Lakeland , mutliple times and drive home afterwards. Thats about a high 10 low 11 in the quarter with 4.11 gear . Now that was with a 200 shot , I have the motor and its for sale . I tore it down for another build but did something different . And by the way , that was with a stock C4 and stck converter . Prolly would have been faster with a good 3500 -4000 stall

If you're looking to do it cheap i'm with Hurst, 150 shot of nitrous and a decent set of cast iron heads. If you want to do it the hard way you could do stock bottom end with a few modifications, with the right set of aluminum heads, hydraulic roller, T5 with good gears set, and the right clutch you could get in the 10's. But with a combo like this you have to be willing to do alot of testing to get there, unless you have done it before. Not the easiest way, but it's the way I would do it and you don't have to buy nitrous.

There are literally thousands of answers to this post.......some good-some not so good. Best thing would be to find someone thats already done the guess work, In other words go to the track and look around, see what cars like what your talking about are running and go from there. Most guys at the track are open to questions about there rides....good luck and have fun!!!
Dont even need aftermarket heads.
Plain old D0VC or D0VE heads a mild intake, cam, headers and a 150 shot,.. easy 10's. And depending on how you shop could be done for cheap. I did a 83 Fox with a bone stock 390/C6 and ran low 12's,.. and that was with stock 2 barrel and cast iron manifolds. Imagine, intake, 4 barrel, cam and headers. Easy low 11's possibly 10's.
So many easy ways to get a Fox into the 10's.

Reality - Race car will not = economical car
I hate reality.
McCreary is spelled right. Before they came out with drag radials thats what we all ran. Some kind G or L 60 tires. McCreary G60's were as good as 26x12 ET Streets,.. I used to run them on my 89. I ran them on the street too. They are the suxor in the rain. I almost spun out at 40 mph going into a bend,.. wasnt even enough water on the road to hydroplane,.. they just had zero traction on wet surfaces.
McCreary sold out to some company in the mid 90's. They still make them,.. but they are called by a different name now,.. I forget the name.

American Racer. They were dirt track tires. I pulled 11.07 on 'em in the old Dirtmobile. That's all I ran either on the street or at the track. Always 11psi. Back then they wer $100 each. I never had any trouble in the rain...but then I am a safe and sensible driver.

I know they had that dirt track staggard block tread pattern,.. but I was told they were for drag racing. Speed Unlimited used to sell them for $99 as drag tires. They had the wrinkle wall sides just like the Mickey T's did.
