Technical Questions... Rep given
Hey guys, it's me again. I'm trying to learn how to do all this shit myself.... Couple of very stupid questions...
#1) I have a FI 5.0 HO motor, where is the MAP sensor located?
#2) Can I degrease the motor? (It's dirty as hell) and then when it comes to washing it, what do I have to cover?
Thanks peoples.

When I use to detail cars back in the days, Id always put a degreaser on everything (let it soak for a few mins) and power washed it with what they had at the shop, just watch out for the distributor. A couple times the cars would run like ass until it dried out some, I think we always had the cars running when we did it. Just dont sit there and beat the hell out of things with crazy pressure for a period of time, the degrease will un-gack things and the pressure from the washer will help the more gacked up crap be removed.
Than we put this snotty like pink stuff on it and made the whole darn engine and plastics look fake and brand new as hell, but on a fake level!!
Not saying this is what everyone does, but at this one shop I worked at, thats what they did and it looked damn good after.

I don't have a pressure washer, I have a hose at my house, but my engine bay seems full, wires everywhere, etc, and I am really afraid of messing shit up. Any idea where the MAP sensor is?
You can use a hose on it, just create pressure by putting your finger over the end or get one of those cheapy hose ends that tapper down at the end.
I worked at the place in 99 so we were doing those year cars and older, they were all FI and (I personally) never had a problem doing it that way, but like I said a couple ran like ass after till the next day when she dried out. I know it sounds weird and I gave the manager a look when he told me that, but it wasent my cars and did what he said and out of probally 200 cars I did only a handful would run like crap till they dried out
Af far as the MAP sensor, Im more of a carb guy so let someone else chime in on that, I dont like to give out wrong info.

<----Also a carb guy...and definatly not a tech. The engine it's self looked clean when I was there....Just some of the accessories were a bit dirty. I would suggest taking it to a detailer though. They will make it look noice for around $45 or so IIRC. It may be more now....but it may be less also. When choosing a detailer, look at some of their work before and after before deciding to use them.

Your car should not have a MAP sensor. jchauncey is right MAP sensors are used for speed density cars (86-88 mustangs used this system)
You have a MAF on that year Mustang. Its the black thing right after the air filter that has a plug with about 4 wires coming off it.
