Coming from a 5.0 owner, the 99/01 Cobras are gorgeous. The DOHC 4.6's are sweet motors, and they just sound so damn good. The 99-04 GT's are great for what they cost. Good looking ride, not too many miles usually on the used ones, and they've got plenty of power for a good starting platform. The DOHC motor, however, is a whole other beast.
ok so for a 99-04 gt...what is the best way to prepare for the supercharger. and how hard are they to install...the scream of a charger makes me jizz

Bolt on all the other mods first. How long....depends on how fast you work. You can do it over a weekend with no issues, a day if you thrash on it and everything goes as planned
cam are expensive?? $680.00 for a set. but i would in this order , rear end locker with a gear{4.10},then tires , then shocks, then exaust ie headers h pipe ect. then nitrous.. my .02 lol 281's suck

Depends on how much boost you want to run. Stay under/around 8psi you wont have to get anything other than what comes in the kit. Plus exhaust, shifter/clutch and gears obviously. Install...self contained kits are not too bad.
if i were you i'd definitely look into the 4.6 DOHC Cobra over the GT. I love my car, but that motor is so much better! You can find a 99-01 cobra for a decent price. and i'm with everyone else...bolt on's and a power adder/tune. (cam/install cost some major mula) a guy just posted his gt in member rides with a Kenne Bell making 400+whp running low boost and i believe that's all that is done to the motor minus maybe exhaust. good luck with whatever you get.

pull the 4.6 out buy the intake adapter plates and put a 5.4 back in. the junkyards around here are letting 5.4's go for only $290(u pull) and $371(they pull) after the intake adapter plates, the motor and some gaskets to "freshen up" the motor you've got less than a grand in the motor and have 50 extra cubic inches that will handle the same future mods as the 4.6
