when you pull the liquid line you can get the o tube out of it to check it for metal . You can get cheap gauges at wholesale tools I think . Mine are snap on.A little pricy if you dont do a/c work all the time , the liqid line just has the orifice built into it.Its not that expensive.Make sure yyou get the right oil. It should be like a pag 46 or 47 . Have them look it up by application where ever you get it.Put the dryer on last , too .You want it to be exposed as little as possible to moisture in the air. if you need help come by my shop.1210 east fletcher

You need to put new refridgerant oil in your new dryer, your new compressor. You also have to break in the clutch on the new compressor. There is alot more to a/c than just bolting new parts on, and charging it up. You need to take all the lines off, and flush them, to get all the metal/trash out. From the pressures you gave. Sounds like the compressor is bad. What type of fittings are on the guages you used? You need to know which oil to use. Or You will just be doing the job all over again....

Really shouldnt mess with a/c stuff unless you have all the right stuff/know-how. You will be spending twice as much money doing it again, if you forget somthing the first time around.....

make sure you install the dryer last,...

I know, I admit to knowing next to nothing about AC stuff. I just feel that AC shops know the average person is an idiot and can over-charge them.

Nothing wrong with trying to figure it out/fix it on my own with internet help.

I am not the average soccer Mom... I am a car guy who can read up, research and give it a go on my own before I pay somebody's rent for 1/18th the cost of doing it myself.

just remember some dryers and even compresors come with oil, usually they will state it on the unit.
