99% of the places you'll get your car worked on, you'll pay before you get your keys. Dont worry if it makes noise... the gears just need to break-in. If it is still making noise in a couple days call us we'll make it right.
Like Shawn said dont let $50 bucks cost you that much in Tylonol. And if I recall a FMS kit is more than $60 I think I paid like $130 for seals, shims, carrier bearings, pinion bearing, crush collar and nut

Some people have told me to do a stall converter before/over gears? Any opinions on that?
I was quoting Jegs prices. Yes, it does take anywhere from 3-4 hours to do gears PROPERLY.

You have to do the following IIRC:

drain the rearend
Pull the wheels
Pull the rear cover
pull the c-clips out
pull the axels
pull the center chunk out
remove the pinion nut
remove the pinion
cut off the pinion bearings
remove the ring gear
The install is all this plus checking for proper alignment (is that the right word? or is it "mesh"?) with the gears.

So, yeah, it takes a while. I've seen it done faster, but it also wasn't done right.

I heard that guy closed up... But can be found at the local strip clubs changing the "rear end" lube on the girls there.

That's what I thought as well.
