I've installed a 3.73 in my 96 mustang, I need the correct speedo gear to make everything happy. Apparently Ford no longer supplies this but one out of a Dodge Dakota truck will fit (?) Anyone know of this? maybe have part numbers?

should be a 21 tooth for a T5 if I'm reading it all right.

 

yea if you have an older t5 with the 7 tooth drive gear. all the newer ones came with an eight, in that case you'll need the 23.

if you're not sure, pull the speed sensor out and look inside the transmission and see what color the drive gear is on the main shaft.

 

Yes a gear from an old Dakota will work.

Dayton Andrews Dodge usually always have a couple in stock....for me lol.

Tell em Dave sent ya and you need a speedo gear from a Dakota for your Mustang and they will probably know what your looking for.

 

I went with the red 21 tooth from walker and my speedo is off by about 4mph around 45mph. I live with it because its not much. I have the yellow gear in the trans.

9 times out of 10 no matter which gear you put in it your always going to be off by a couple mph. Just gotta deal with it.

 

Mine is right on. At least it matches what my GPS says.
