Default v6 mustang

Okay so i have a 2004 3.9 v6 mustang. All I've done to it so far is dual exhaust and intake. My question is, keeping my car a daily driver (and im a usf student) what should i do to it for <$5000. I'm not going to trade it! i wanna do this little at a time if i can. What should i do to it?

well, first of all, unless i'm crazy you own a 2004 3.8 v6 not a 3.9 v6. and what do you exactly mean what should you do to it for less than 5 grand? do you have 5grand to spend, or do you have $1 to spend...because there is a huge variable there. you can do a lot for that amount of money and keep it a daily driver. my suggestion, take that money and invest in a termi motor if you have 5,000. you'd have a fast as fuuuu daily driver.

whats a termi motor? An NO its a 3.9, 1/2 way thru 2004 ford changed to a 3.9. Dunno why just is what Ive read! i'll have around $5000 to spend. Id rather spend less if possible. have considered 4.6 3v, 289, 302 or 351w swaps, s/c, turbo, just bolt ons. but i dunno in reality how much all that will really cost

Sell the car and buy a GT or Cobra,.. otherwise leave the car alone. If your paying someone else to do the work and buying a crate motor,.. $5k is not enough money. Will be money ahead selling the car.

If you have 5 grand to spend I would just go out and buy a fox. You can get decent foxes for under 5k and still have some money left over for basic bolt ons.

Otherwise, your better off just trading your car in on a GT.

The terminator motors are great and all but the 5k, maybe, will get you the engine and harness with the computer. That engine will absolutely destroy your rear end and probably your transmission too. Your out even more money after that.

i guess i learn something new every day, didn't know they changed 'em to a 3.9, then again i don't really keep up with anything for the 6's. the 'termi' motor or, better known as, terminator i was talking about is the 4.6 eaton blown 4valve that came in the 03 and 04 cobras. i was sorta kidding about that b/c of all the work needed to do that. but i agree with the other guys, sell your car, add in the 5k and pick up a GT or older cobra. you'll be much happier with it and you won't be waisting 5k on a motor that sucks. but it's your car and your money, i think that most everyone in this forum is gonna be on the same page though.

i would if i had the kinda money. Im going into my final year (hopefully) at USF and i work part time at steak n shake. Hopefully the economy will be better and ill get a real job once i graduate. Im a business major. anyways trading the car at this point isnt an option...still making payments. So should i just do bolt ons now?

oh i never wanted a v6. just when i bought and still now it was the practical car with payments and gas. Since i was about 5 ive always loved the sound of the mustang (the v8 sound that is). Fox would be great but i need a daily driver that will be realiable to drive around in. So unless i win the lotto buying a new car is out

http://www.chipsv6specialties.com/index.html

at least someone loves you
I have a v6 that I autocross because where I race, horespower really isn't much of an advantage (strange but true) You can do some minor mods and run it in the production class and have fun with it. But the v6 is not by any means a world beater, the v8 are much more desirable, even I own a blown 99 GT, the v6 is kinda my beater car,
FAST - Autocross > Home

but at least there is one place that you can race one competitively.
