ac lines
me 3
sad thing is. the compressor and everything works. I just cant get it to take this damn can of freon.
Hey guys, why would it not be taking a can of freon. I know the freon in the car is just about gone completely as the AC blows about the same temp as outside air. Maybe one or two degrees cooler but thats a stretch. The valve on the ac line where you put the freon works as it spits out a little bit of freon when you press it and you can hear a pressure relief. The valve on the can works too as far as I can tell. I havnt pressed on it but I know the can was pierced when I screwed the gauge and valve on to it. Dont flame the hell out of me for this as I dont know much about AC but my 02 GT uses R134a correct?
Also, the compressor seems to cycle alot more than it did when the AC blows cold. The engine idles up to about 950 rpm and you can hear the compressor kick in but it only does it for 3 seconds or so and then the compressor lets off and the engine idles back down to about 600 like normal. Then after about ten seconds of low idle it cycles again. It didnt seem to do it that much when the AC blew cold either. Any ideas? I have a huge $35 can of freon in my back seat thats just sitting there. I want to be cool again. Help please.

Well I dont know why it wont take it....is the car running and the a/c on when you do it? And is it on the low side?
As for the quick cycle its more than likely because it is low on freon.
And yes your GT use's R134a.....R12 was outlawed many years ago.
