check your battery

it has not starting voltage, and the car runs on your alternator once its started

most of your ignition wiring is fuseable links on that car you have to look at the wiring out at the starter solenoid on the fender and see if any of it looks like it's burnt

trying to understand the question here though, if you charge it up does it start up just fine and if you let it sit overnight it's dead in the morning ?

Have your battery and alternator load tested first. Most parts stores do this for free. Winter kills them. If it tests fine, start looking for a drain in the system.

it doesnt have to be a drainage. batteries sulfate themselves after 3-5 years. they wont hold a charge anymore. and its not your alternator either, but i guess if its free it wouldnt hurt to check.

Just curious why couldnt be alternator. A carbed car can run off a charged battery for a while. Runninng lights and wipers and things like that, different story

because the car runs fine after the battery is jumped. the battery isnt holding a charge not because the alternator isnt charging it, but because the battery is old, sulfated, and incapable of holding a charge.

guaranteed after you do a voltage test on the battery, it will read 10 volts after 15-30 minutes.

not really saying it cant be the alternator, just saying its the least likely cause in this case
