Carb swap
Just wanting to know who has ditched the efi for a carb and how did you like it? I think it looks better under the hood of a fox to see a carb and if I can make decent power I want to do the swap? I have never done this so tips will be appreciated.

Oh and I will be doing this on a car that is a street/ strip car. Want know who has done it and did you use the stock efi pump with a regulator or what? And what kind of fuel set up will I need for the spray want to step up to a 200 shot and still keep it a wet kit. So how has a bottle fed carb swapped stang that can point me in the right direction. I have a 6al and will be getting a weland stealth intake and was thinking a 700cfm carb, and will be looking for a 85 distributor in good shape.

Chris, how wild are you going to go with the 302? Are you ever planning on stroking it to 347? If so, then you will want a 750. If not, then go with the 650. It'll handle the 200 shot no problem.
I run a 302 in my 95 Cobra. It's FI.....Every time I get into my 67 mustang, I go to a carbed 302. I absolutely LOVE my carbed car. WAY more than my FI car. Now, my carbed motor ran best with an Edelbrock Preformer RPM cam and intake set up with some worked heads. My FI motor I can't hardly do crap to because of the year of the car. (94-95 computers are hard to deal with)
You may be able to make some money off selling the FI stuff and converting to carb. What year fox is it?

I swapped my 93 over from EFI to carb and absolutely love it. Runs much better and much easier (for me) to tune and tweak.
I had a 306 with stock short block. AFR 185 heads. Vic jr intake and a 600 double pumper on it.
Ran consistent mid 12's at 110 mph in the 1/4 and 8.20's at 88 mph in the 1/8.
A 306 spinning 7000 RPM only needs 633 cfm. So if your on a mild 302,.. you only need a 600 - 650 cfm carb. Anything bigger will be too much carb and probably end up hurting performance.
I did mine totally redneck,.. in the middle of a 427w build and am now considering going TT with it,.. so I need a completely different fuel setup then I have now. But for the most part its really simple.
I ordered a Summit branded 140 GPH inline pump. EFI pump wont really work right,.. figure a 255 LPH Walbro pump is only rated 65 GPH. EFI pumps are more for sustained high pressure then volume like a carb pump.
The fuel pump was $110.00 and came with a Holley regulator.
I then dropped the tank. Removed the stock pump. In its place I installed 8 inches of 5/8 fuel line hose and hooked it up to the stock fuel hat where the stock pump was attached. Dropped it back down in the tank and that became my pickup tube. I mounted the fuel pump on the back side of my rear bumper. I disconnected the line that ran from the pump to the filter in front of the tank. I ran that to an inline filter before the Summit pump,. then ran the out side to the stock filter in front of the fuel tank and used the stock fuel line from there to just before the firewall. I cut both the main fuel line and the return line. I crimped off the return line because I wasnt going to use it. I then ran fuel line up to the regulator mounted on the firewall on the passenger side. Then mounted a fuel pressure regulator and another inline filter before the carb and then dead headed the fuel line at the carb. I set the fuel pressure at just a hair over 6 PSI.
For a distributor I used a Proform 50,000v 7500 rpm HEI distributor. Its very simple,.. only need a single 12v switched wire to feed it. It has a tach signal plug also. I removed my coil. Used the 12v wire from the coil to feed the HEI,.. and then the ground wire (tach signal) to the tach side,.. and viola.

i would like to know about the fuel pump thing as well. can a carb be ran off the efi fuel pump?
