Ok, answer this question: When the dizzy was IN, did you crank it over and see if the rotor was turning?

If the rotor isn't turning, you have one of the following problems:

1) Timing chain broken

Or

2) dizzy gear messed up in some fasion

3) Cam gear is messed up somehow

On a project/driver fix ONE thing at a time when you learning or you will get overwhelmed as loose interest fast.

1. figure out why you dont have any spark. Duraspark and module is the easiest to work with. If you upgrade to a MSD wire box and 2 wires to the DS distributor and your done. I use to spin my last 30665-6800 all day long with a DS and MSD no problems what so ever. (HEI wont do it)

2.If your having charging problems upgrade to a 3G alt (very easy) and you can do away with external regulator crap. And this can be done w/ alt from junk yard for cheap

Give me a call, cell # in sig. I'm in Riverview

Thats not entirely true about HEI and RPM's. My father inlaw and I built a 500hp 327 Chevy that spun to 7500 using an HEI with MSD internals, a mechanical advance kit and a digital box. So HEI can spin just as good as Duraspark. I only recommended the HEI because for a novice the simplicity to set it up is a no brainer. 1 wire,.. how hard could it be?

Your right,.. with an MSD box,.. they work much better. But your talking what,.. $180 - $200 to set it up?

I agree with the rest. Figure out whats wrong first,.. then sort out a solution.

Even most chevy guys move away from the HEI and go with a seperate dist / coil set up. Not sure why though

Because at the level their playing at,.. usually 800 - 1500+hp motors,.. even HEI has its limitations. But for a motor that usually wont see more then 6000 its just fine. Typically if I was building a big block I would use an HEI.

They do make separate external coil kits for HEI distributors and they generally can handle the RPM's much better then the coil in cap setups.

I live in northern Pasco county,. so Apollo bch is a little haul for me,.. else I would be happy to take a look at it for you. Free of charge. What ever is wrong with it can not be too complicated. The car was running,.. you were driving it. So its just a matter of tracing it down.

Hopefully someone close by can come help ya out.
