Default Fuel pump questions.....

I need Ford techies opinions. Will a fuel pump for a returnless fuel system work in a return system? Discuss.

kinda doubt it, usually the returnless styles are a big housing style setup where the return its just a pump attached to some metal with a sock attached to the end

I'm not talking about swapping hats i'm just contemplating switching fuel pumps in the same hat with a large hose clamp to keep it in place. The reason i ask is i got my hands on 1 focus pump and a 03 cobra pump. At 40 psi they flow nearly twice as much as a stock pump does. I think they will work because a fuel pump is a fuel pump. If Dave would ever answer his phone i would ask him.

In the modular world alot of us guys use the fuel pump from an lincoln aviator (returnless fuel system) that fits into my fuel pump basket of my cobra (return style).

+1 he's right.

As long as you have a way to get the fuel back into the tank it will work.

Even in carb applications everyone is going return style. Its hard on, and less efficient with a "dead head" stlye system. Doesnt require special pump just the regulator and plumbing.

Either pump will work,.. the only difference between the two from what I understand is the dimensions of the pumps. The return line just dumps back into the tank. Pump has nothing to do with the return line.
