Perhaps the rev limiter is doing its job @ 6000.

Lack of power =smallass motor.

If you just got the car and previos owner says it maybe the filter tells me they didnt keep up with the maintainence. I'd start with a basic tune-up, oil, filter, plugs, fuel filter so YOU know those are done and are eliminated from the problems. HTH
If there no check engine light Fuel filter is a good possibilty. If there is a light have codes checked as ^^^^ stated

thanks guys.ill try all these things but i might have found the problem.
1.Inoticed that the tach seems a bit slow from what the motor is really pushing.
2. the car breaks up more and more the higher the rpms get.
3.Somtimes the car will die and wont start up. but if you check for spark
it fires right up.

I think it might be the coil pack i will have the scanner to find out for sure sunday
