Default To fix my EGR crap or . . . .

I've come to the conclusion that some part of the EGR system or related sensors on my car are shot. Car has developed an annoying idle and actually stalls at times. So I am stuck on replacing or removing the EGR crap and keep it EFI or rip it all out and slap on a carb. Let me know what you think and leave some pointers for your view.

goignt o carb is a lot of money to fix something as simple as that. Usually the egr doesnt affect idle or anything since ti doesnt work at idle unless there is a gasket leaking somewhere on the intake that uses it.

If it were me, I'd check for vacuum leaks first, gasket leaks second, and IAC third.

I'd rule out each of those as possibilities, before making any changes/updates/upgrades.

Then when you've fully resolved the idle situation; revisit your same question... To carb, or not to carb...

Either way (carb of EFI), you can ditch the charcoal canister / smog pump gimmicks. And IIRC you can do an EGR delete for fairly inexpensive.

kinda my thought. tired of looking for bad sensors on a 17 y/o car. Trying to determine the cost to swap to carb versus paying someone to help me trouble shoot all the damn issues with it.

New parts needed: Carb, Intake, Distributor, Dizzy Tie-Down, Fuel Pump, Regulator, and I'm sure I'm missing somethings...

try what Josh said first, my car had a odd idle, sometimes it floats, sometimes it felt like the pedal was stuck at 2000 rpm and then it would sometimes just die at idle. I finally replaced my IAC motor and it runs great again. Amazing what a small computer related part can do for the car.
