transmission leak

Default transmission leak

the transmission was just pouring out fluid almost as quickly as i was pouring in... coming out of bottom of car, solid stream

1998 ford taurus


any idea which part is malfunctioning?

I bet its the torque converter seal/bushing

ok thanks for input, where about is that located? where transmission meets axle? and would i just be able to drop out tranny and replace?

At the risk of stating the obvious..umm...did you remove any of the drain plug(s) in the transmission, if there are any? Coming out as fast as you pour it in would mean there is a HUGE FUCKING HOLE somewhere, not just a leaky seal.

there is no drain plug unless someone added one. Im going to assume its doing it while the car is running. If it is, its almost for certain going to be the torque converterseal/bushing.

Sounds like a cracked torque converter if it was pouring out fast while it was running. If pouring out fast while not running,.. then you have bigger problems. A cracked torque converter can be replaced and usually the tranny is ok. I had this happen on a Camaro once. Replaced converter and all was good.

someone came into my job describing this exact same problem and 2 days later its fine now. they didnt touch anything.
