Default 98 Taurus

My girl has a 98 Taurus, it has been having a few problems recently - some shaking, tranny slips occasionally.. i have to occasionally put transmission fluid in, and it makes some noise when driving, started out as a wierd noise (kind of like a straining noise or like when buffing or sanding something with a worn-out pad.. but still kind of hard to explain - and usually heard while accelerating, and usually when car has not been on for long), but while pulling into work today it started making a noise that sounded kind of bad... like a clinking noise, like a rattling... didnt sound good, coincidentally i bought a new car today, but would obviously still need to get the taurus fixed... any ideas? maybe just check fluids and fill'er up?

well, honestly any help is appreciated, thanks in advance;

mike
