Default Upper intake help.

I just went to put my top end back together and while trying to set the heavy ass upper intake/throttlebody onto the lower, the A/C line hit the plenum part and I accidentally set the upper down at an angle and only on one stud.

Now I can't get it off of it at all.

Anybody ever have this problem? I am so over fuel injection and all of the bullshit that accompanies it.

I assume this is an '89 with the stock upper lower?
Sounds like you need to get a pry bar and a rubber mallet.

No pry bar needed, just another set of hands.. thanks Brandon!

Felt good to be driving my baby again...lol

Allan, it's not the stock peice, it's an Eldebrock Performer 5.0 and that bitch is heavy. I'm going to swapping out to a carb as soon as possible, anybody interested in my fuel injection setup?

My first Mustang was an 83 GT. Never want to work on a carb again.

Glad to see you got her running.

Switching over to carb is easy. Performer or RPM manifold. Nice 600 - 650 cfm 4150 Holley carb, Holley Blue pump, Pressure regulator. Dist out of an 85 manual tranny car ( I have one for sale), Will need a module like an MSD or similar. Dont waste your time with a Duraspark. Or switch over to an HEI like one from Proform. 1 wire for spark and the other for tach. Very simple. Only issue you'll have with the Proform is that the low pressure line from the AC will need to be removed and you'll need to run a smaller 10" air cleaner and will need an elbow on the heater core hose coming off the manifold to give the distributor some elbow room to adjust. Run a ported vacume line to it and viola.

You can use the stock throttle cable by taking off the bracket it was on for the EFI and bolting it on behind the carb on the manifold.

If running a 600 CFM Holley the only real adjustment you need to make is for the idle mixure. A double pumper will dump alot of fuel if you have small heads (E7's). A regular mechanical secondary will do fine. Stay away from the 4160 universal Holley carbs,.. bleh.

The only real disadvantage to running a carb is your fuel economy will not be as good. You'll lose 3 - 5 mpg.

I love carbs on a 5.0
