"budget" and "turbo" should never be used in conjunction. Sooner more than later you will be regretting spending all this money again. The number one foundation should be your engine. Everyone wants to skimp on that and go straight to the icing. You will be sorry.
I dont wanna sound like a dick but its the same as spraying a 200-250 shot on a tired ass motor it will last for a little bit and than your gonna have a badass (broken) stang sitting in the driveway. Build a soild h/c/i car save up for a short block and then switch all the stuff over. Yeah it will take longer but you will be able to enjoy it for MUCH longer for a. while you save for your shortblock. and b. after its all done.
Just my .02 congrats on the undertaking it will be a blast!

I agree that building a strong host is important. Turbos do not load the engine like nitrous. I understand what he is doing and it can be done.
I also know the opposite side of that turbo coin.
What I can also add is do not do this to your daily driver that must serve as your main source of transportation.
I think it would be easier and cheaper to find a low millage explorer engine and add some good head gaskets and studs. If the tune is right it should live a long time.

If you are planning on having someone else tune the car once it is done, I would recommend consulting with them as to what injectors, MAF, fuel pump, and possibly camshaft to use.
