A lot of the classes and some tracks require a full style exhaust. When we raced at Roebling Road, they actually had a noise level ordinance. If you didn't pass, you didn't race.

I am not sure I would like the extra heat that would generate. It is already hot enough in the cars...

Thanks for the link man, the slash oval exhaust front of the rear tire has always been my favorite. The noise factor in the car next to you that might have the windows down is also a + IMHO.

Actually, if he was to run it through the back of the car he would have to negotiate all of the modified suspension, which, it would appear, that he would like to be able to adjust without setting himself on fire from the exhaust heat.
And secondly, yes the torque arm does hang down but if he was to run the exhaust pipes out through the side, THEY would now be the lowest part of the car since the exhaust would have to be routed under the subframe connectors.
That wing and nose setup is very common in AIX racing, it looks crude, but it does work. I'm sure that this guy runs some from of heater insulation over the pipes.
I was looking at running through the car headers on a mustang and decided that would be way too much heat to try and control, this setup might be a decent compromise.
BTW: AIX series

photgraphic proof that mustangs can also turn corners.

/\ That's actually rather interesting... That's a really cool setup. Love the idea of heat wrapping the pipes, and then the aluminum cover with the additional heat diaper installed on the underside. Looks like a pretty neat setup, IMO.

I'd change something about its exit though; definitely wouldn't want it sticking out past the exit hole. I'd prefer the piping be lopped off right there and made flush to the body panel. I think it'd look a lot cleaner; more trick.
