Bad coil pack. My Lincoln LS V8 did the same thing a few times.

It is usually from a valve cover leaking into the area where the spark plug screws into the head and shorts out the pack.

Pull the plug wires and look into the holes. If you see one with oil in it there it is. Shitty thing is you will need to replace the valve cover gasket on that side. Make sure to get the Ford ones and not some cheap ones. It is not a hard job, just a lot of time moving shit out of the way.

Not ruling this out, but the motor I have uses the COP coil over plug dealies where there isnt an actual spark plug wire. One of the 8 COPs could still go bad though.. I wish I knew how to tell which one..

it should have told you when you ran codes. If only you were closer to my shop id bring over the computer scanner and the o2 scanner. The scanner I have at the shop lets me do data stream so I can read stuff as it happens and see if everything is kosher

that would be sweet, too bad im not closer to you!

I changed the plugs and boots and its still not running right. the thermostat gasket is leaking into the front spark plug hole, i have to wonder if the COP got burnt out because of that.. The CEL just came back on so I'll get codes run

No the rear sensor is there only to let the computer know the cats are working properly.
