How can a 17yr old without a job afford to buy a car/insurance and buy gas @ $3 a gallon? Guess things have changed since I was 17 and had to ride the bus till I got a job. Yea, my Dad was a mean 'ol fuck that wouldn't let me buy a car until I had a job and saved the $$. I miss the cranky old fart.

In Miami (1980) on the Palmetto expressway I got 3 tickets at one time for a total of 12 points. In of all things a Chevy Luv 4X4. 1-Excess of 85MPH (yes it would actually go that fast) 2-Improper change of lane 3-Following too closely. Lost my license for a year. The cop was amazed that I didn't know the guy I was bump-drafting through 3 lanes of traffic. All I could say was that he pissed me off by cutting me off in the fast lane.... Worst of all I had to have my Mom drive me to court to beg for a temporary license so I could drive to my "job".

Seriously man, get a job. No offense intended.

Good luck! There is work out there, all you have to do is find it.

Thats NORMAL! The only way to get a job these days is to bang on doors. You have to apply at EVERYWHERE. If there is a business in the building, you put in an application for an open entrylevel position. Be open on the pay also. It helps. You have a few things going against you.

1. you're only 17
2. you're a guy
3. you're desperate

now, 1 and 2 you can't hide or help. But 3 you can. Don't SOUND desperate. Just act like it doesn't matter. Yes, you WANT the job, but if this one doesn't hire you, the next one will.

Get a lawyer it's cheaper. $150 for most and since it's your first offense you should get off no problem.

Bike tech has a list of lawyers.

Find some way to pay the ticket, graduate, if you like motorsports, get a bus ticket to Charlotte or Indy and start going from shop to shop asking if you can sweep floors. Work your a** off , be the first to start working and the last to stop. Keep your ears open and your trap shut and see what happens. Hopefully someone will take you under their wing, if they do, show some integrity, keep working for them even if you get some better offers (both your employer and the potential employer will respect that) If it all goes to crap in a few years, you're still a kid, you can try plan B. If it works out, it's a cool career.
BTW a job is something you do for money
a career is something you do for life.

Join the Army, get some computer/electrical experience, get out and make a bunch of $$ as a contractor.
That or fly helicopters!
