Default Need Help with Fuel Pump Issues on 91 Mustang

I just got my Mustang on the road. Apparently someone was too cheap to find out what the real issue with the car was. When you shut the car off, the fuel pump was still humming, so who ever had the car bypassed the fuel relay and wired it into the headlights. So now you have to turn on the lights before the car will start.

Can anyone give me suggestions on why the pump would have been running after the car was shut off? Would there be a problem with the pump itself, or just the relay needing to be replaced? I would hate to put it in the shop if it is something that I could do myself.

Sounds like a faulty ignition switch possible.

If the relay is good, swap the brain as another check.

was 91 under the seat? I thought that year was by the fender.A faulty relay or igntion switch is what im going to go with. The only time ive ever had a fuel pump work constantly was when the computer died on me. Course the car wouldnt not run after that.

Was your car an orignal v8 car?
