9.2 deck height, so you will need a new lower intake, possibly upper if staying FI,
Headers,
drop motor mounts,
oil pan, pickup, and pump,
new flywheel,
new balancer,
said 408 stroker kit with crank, rods, bearings, pistons, and such,
machine shop time for balance and block work,
front bracket accessories,
distributer,
gaskets for everything,
and the little stuff you never think about until you take the project on.

other stuff that might be....
cam and heads should work, but you'll probably want to match them to the motor,
hood,
head stud kit for any amount of spray or boost,
maybe push rods and new roller rockers for the new motor,
fuel system, like pump, regulator, and lines...??
I think the bell housings are the same for the trany, but not 100% sure,
oh and if your staying FI, injectors and matching mass air.
I don't know if I totoally agree, personally I have yet to do one but from digging up stuff from planning my own build the only things that you would need to sell from your motor and replace to run a 351 would be:
Intake
distributor
headers, although shorties would work (I think)
oil pan
balancer and flywheel
everything else is standard rebuild stuff anyway if you were planning on building a 302.

Was you question " whats involved with rebuilding a motor" which I know you know already, or did you wanna know how much "extra" is involved in dropping in a windsor.

Personally, you've done the 347 thing already.....yes I'm jealous.
Now you need to make older son jealous and build the 408, lol!

if you already have a 302 based setup and existing components you'll have to swap out quite a few pieces, however if you're starting from scratch (new block, etc) I'd say knock it out as you'll be buying parts regardless.

I say do it, but then again that is what i'm putting in the 70... so i'm a little biased..

This will be a fresh build --- curious about 351w fitment in fox eng. compartment and tips on resources for parts and such. Also will it torque or rpm --- internals forged or cast, ok?

BJ --- "make older son jealous and build the 408" that's good

i'm no expert by any means, but should be a longer rod motor so should make more torque.
you could probably go with cast unless you're planning on making a good chunk of power, all depends on your budget and preference.
deck size is a little different
302 - 8.2 vs. 351w which is either 9.2 or 9.5 to it'd be more of a height issue than anything else.
just my .02

3/4 into my my 357w build.i went carbed,so i could save some money verse the FI stuff.had to get a better oilpan(Canton)and bigger exhaust,3" from header back.still need to get headers and a intake maniflod.i went with forged 11.3.1 compression with the vic jr heads i bought.i have eagle H beam rods.should lay down some good #'s.i am going with a custom grid cam to get the most power out of combo.if you are starting from scratch i would going with a windser base motor to get the extra cubes.

Old Man, there's the kinda read I was hoping for ... thanks!

Thanks Jim ... will do a build for father-son time project. A drop-in would be nice, not this time though.

Harper, would like to meet up and compare notes and ideas.

BTW --- Jim, Appreciated your calls (5 lug convert). One of my customers is setting my son up with SN95 front end for $60 --- got lucky

sure let me know when.the person i got the idea from for the 357 build was 351coupe here on TR.he had a 357 in a coupe that he had put together.his car was one of the top dogs out at gandy a couple of years back.i got most of my motor spec's based on his old combo.not sure on his 1/4 times, but i know he took out alot of fast cars that i saw run in the 10's.
