The oil ONLY uses gravity to flow back. it is under NO pressure after turbo. It must have a good drain.

so what happens to the pressure used to get oil to the turbo?

where does it go?

Same as any bearing. After the squish it loses pressure due to volume. If you dont drain it properly it will pool and cause backpressure and an overheated and underlubricated turbo.
