I tried it during the drive home, but even with the gloomy weather it was still too bright, so I couldn't really tell..

What happened to the laptop mount? If the interior of the 99 and 03 is not too different and there was no drilling into the dash I would love to buy it. I have the laptop plug for my computer so I could just use map quest and leave it up on the screen.

your interior is totally diff from a P71, which has a column shifter and open center btwn seats.
MM has floor console. you will need a specially made one, probably for a camaro or something which may help you out better.

this is the one you want...this is the best one, its slim, and solid, and good for a passenger ( i had a car with one of these in it)
