Default Thanks Race Related!

Just wanted to say thanks to James & the crew at Race Related. They just did a 01 continental swap in my cobra and I couldn't be happier with it. Many people said it couldn't be done but they did it! This is definitely a good and affordable swap into a Gt or 96-98 cobra. As far as #'s go it made 296rwhp & 300rwtq with only exhaust. Once again thanks!

I thought the Cobra motor (96-98 ) puts out about the same power? Why would you swap for the same numbers as stock?

The price and my 96 didn't make those #'s with more mods.

I thought the continental motor had a different bell housing and a 6 bolt crank?

I seriously doubt it came from a continental. Those car are FWD so the block itself is worthless to us RWD guys. But the heads and crap can be swapped. Maybe they did a head swap. ???? -Mark

Yes it came out of a FWD but they made an adapter plate for the bellhousing and used a 6 bolt flywheel. James can explain it better than I can all that he had to do.

Did he shorten the driveshaft? Cause if they didn't I'm sure your pinion angle is way off. How big/thick is this plate? -Mark

I will have to talk to James about the adapter plate because I don't know all the specifics on it. As for a difference between the 96-98 cobra motor not much but the continental motor uses the tumble port heads vs the B-port head on the 96-98 cobra.
