We used a .250" thick aluminum plate, the stock block shim/starter locater plate is .125".The .125" difference had zero affect on pinion angle. The result was great as expected. We have a drawing of the plate if anyone else would like to do this swap.

How did you get the starter to reach the flywheel? Did you remove a section of the bellhousing? As you know adding a 1/4" at the tailshaft will increase the farther you get toward the end of the driveshaft (i.e diff).

1stcobra- If I remember correctly those intake choke those motors. Look for a 99+ cobra intake and have it made into a shortrunner. You'll see good gains.

As far as the differences the intake cams on the 96-98 are better (more duration) but the heads are far superior in the C heads in N/A form. They don't flow as much as the B heads but their velocity is greater which is needed for N/A. -Mark

We left the flywheel in the stock position,we left the ear on the adapter plate to align the starter.and we machined a new outer shell to hold the pilot bearing to make up the .125".We removed the factory block shim so the new output shaft location is .125" further backward closer to the rear.We found that the driveshaft slip yolk had more than enough room to accomedate the new location. And just think of all the weight transfer w/ the trans now a quarter inch further back.Just kidding.

James,
I have a buddy on another forum that is going to do the same swap. Do you have any pics you could send me of the plate you made? Could you also send me a copy of the drawing you have? What did you do about the input shaft? I know 1/4" is not a lot, but I didn't think you could loose that much length from inside the back of the crank. Thanks. My e-mail address is: bitemark46@tampabay.rr.com
