dont take out the tranny yet try unbolting the converter first and spinning it a few times and then try again, while its unbolted spin the starter for a second to make sure its ok also and check the gear selector to make sure its in park or N. Do the simple things first before taking that heavy sucker out again.

you have to spin it on, zman has a good idea, if it's binding just loosen the bell bolts a little

I did loosen the tranny bolts out enough to move the tranny back a half inch. However not enough room for me to get my hands to it, spin it and make sure it's on all the way. I was just going to pull the tranny about 6 inches away from the motor and check it then.

I know it's in Park.
I know the starter is fine because the gear is popping out, AND it turned the flywheel about an inch before it wouldn't turn it anymore. When I backed the tranny off the motor that half inch, I was able to turn the motor over as normal. When I tightened it back down, back to where I can't turn it over. I still think it's the converter.

stupid question, are you making sure the studs on the converter are lining up and falling into the holes on the flex plate?

are you using the right torque convertor bolts ..they are thin and improper bolt can wege between the int. plate and the flywheel..just a thought

make sure the converter is all the way in the transmission. the last step puts it in like the last 1/2 inch. if it isn't in all the way it will bind up and not turn over.

That's exactly what I think it is. I'm about to go pull the tranny and do that right now. I want this bitch running tonight.
