Thee 26inch vs. 28inch tire debate once again !
Since we are lacking in the tech related posts lately
I think it is time for one.
I think we all know where I, Adam, and I think $hawn stand on smaller slicks.
If not, in a nutshell we like them and seem to have good luck with them. Currently I am running a 275/60/15 MT drag radial which measures 26.25 loaded on the car.
Personally I have stayed away from a 28inch tire for as long as I could because I think they have to much sidewall which tends to make the car sway more easily in the event you have to drive it at all while going down the track. Maybe this is bunk but I have witnessed it several times in person so that is my story on it.
Well I think the time has come where I might have to seriously weigh and re-consider my hatred for 28inch tires since I am about to order some new ones next week.
I plan on ramping up the boost to my car over the next few months and at the rate I am going I am going to go out the back door at the track at 8,000 rpm's.
I really do not want to do that and put that extra strain on the motor. Plus the heads on the car will not breath anywhere near that.
So what say you ? Bite the bullet and go with the 28's once and for all or stick with the 26's and see where it all ends up ?

You can eliminate alot of the sway if you run the 28's on a wider rim like the outlaw 10.5 guys do. Scaling the cars and making them a lower ride height will help also.

28x10 0n a 10" rim equalls more foot print and better 60fts.i use more than 8 rim screws to make the tire "round" giving less sway on the big end.im also using goodyear eagles at 9-10 psi. my car leaves and hooks on a 300 shot of nitrous.also running a 4:10 spooled rear.going thru the traps at 72-7300 w/stroked 351w--too high. this season going to change to 3:73 to reduce trap rpm .7000 or a little less would be optimum.

even though im at 1/2 the power you are, my 325/50 15 BG drag radials on a 15 x 10" wheel (28" tall) with 15psi sway on the street, but on the track the track perfectly straight.
Last time i was at the track i drove with one hand on the top of the wheel and the other on the shifter the whole time.

sack up and run a 26x8.5 like me
I don't make NEAR the power you do, but they feel nice down track in the mid 10s @ 131+
Adam has been 9.0 on 26x10s
aren't you running a D/R? if so, try a 26x10 on a 10" wheel.

Sorry, no skinny's on the rear for me !
If they work for you no need to screw with something good. Same reason I am having a hard time convincing myself to change.Yes I am running a 275/60/15 DR on a 10 inch rim and it measures 26.25 with the car on the ground and a little less than 26.50 jacked up.
Usually I am very decisive but I am having a rough time with this one.
you at least have to go 9.08 on the 26's,your student did.

id let you run mine, but i dont think you can fit a 325 on a 10" wheel with 4" of backspace under your car. that and my rear wheels alone weigh 35#s each + the 30# tire
