Drop a 5.0 into it, and convert it to 5spd, and fix the body. That should be enough to make him Uber happy.

No Vtec! No Flashy body kit! No “OMG Dat B RaRe y0!” parts. “Clean” never goes out of style. “JDM” is a trendy term defined by the Honda-tech generation… a trend that will eventually pass!

Does the car need to stay auto? Why do you think it has an 8.8 in it? Did he say he put one in it? I have Mac shorty headers, off road H pipe, and a 5.0L T5 bellhousing for $200. Also, if you go EFI you'll need a 92-93 engine harness. I think 95-early 97 Explorer heads and intake and an E or B cam would be a good way to reach your 275hp goal.

why even put insurance on the vehicle? you won't be covered if something happens. As soon as your insurance company finds out your frauding them they will drop you before you can say anything. Why put all that money into it unless you are going to have your expensive parts covered? Sorry, that statement just ALWAYS bugs the piss outta me...

A few quick reasons is the insurence covers more then just the vehicle. There is the whole health liabilty thing.
Even in the event of an accident the engine most likely isn't a huge deal. Most of the time when they total a car they end up giving a market/replacement value which wouldn't cover the 5.0 swap but most likely cover the rest of the car. Not like you trying to commit fraud just because you did a motor swap. Now maybe if you lied to them about it and then tried to get money from them to cover it. That is more stupidity then attempted fraud.
Another one is when your stopped and don't have insurence. I got caught in that one before and ended up in court because of it. They also like to tow your car for not having it. Especially a nice mustang because they know you will pay to come get it. ($145) I ended up paying to place insurence then paid the fines for not having it. ($350)
In the end it would have cheaper to just have the damn thing.
But to each his own I guess.
