Default Need opinions please

Well i just got back from the PRI show and there was some really cool stuff there...i am looking into purchasing a metal conditioner and polisher.....how many people would seriously be interested in having metal items hardened and polished...such as treating and polishing a rear end gear is supposed to increase its strength and the polished effect is supposed to increase RWHP by freeing up friction and reducing wear...how many people would pay $150 to have their gears done for such a process?, other things can be done as well such as camshafts, timing chain gears, rods, pistons, valve springs, valves, headers...just trying to find out if its worth spending $8000 on the system..

I don't think that the end customer could see a Value that is greater than the Cost of that process. Another words, it's more likely to NOT see/feel any difference in the car for that $150 process on a gear IMO.

I could be wrong, but I personally wouldn't be willing to drop that kinda jack to just "free up hp" per se.

Does the 150 include pulling the gear out and reinstalling it? Or does the 150 just cover the polishing on a new gear that has yet to be installed? Youd be the only one in these parts that I can think of that would offer that service.

I would say that's a large investment! Not to sure I'd do it.

the only reason that the cost would be so much is the chemicals involved in doing it...first the item must be completely degreased and dried.. there are 2 machines, both use a combination of porcelain balls and cones, the part would first be run through one tumbler with a silcone based abrasive and then must go through the other machine with a mixture of water and chemical to get the polishing, each process would take 10-12 hours in the machine, so thats 24 hours of time in the machines...the hardening process obviously increases the metals strength and removes any burrs from the part that could cause it to crack...and the polishing process has been proven to pick up 5+ RWHP, other items could be done at the same time, not just a gear...if someone wanted a gear set and a cam done at the same time the cost would be the same... there is almost an infinte number of things that could benefit from the process, what would someone pay to have an intake polished?, well over $150 im sure...
