Default Body experts - what causes this?

When I first got my coupe (now sold), there was a small gap under the passender side quarter glass. It was like it was sitting up too high, but it seemed to match up with the top of the window molding fine. There was also a slightly larger than normal gap between the top of the door/window frame and the roof trim. As far as I could tell, the car was original paint at the time. The only thing I can think of is the roof jig was off a little at the factory and it was attached about .250 too high. How would this be repaired?

I ask because I am considering buying the car back and this was one thing that always bugged me. Now that the car has had a few panels painted, I wouldn't feel so bad trying to get thie straightened out.

Yes, I am anal.

almost looks as if the glass was installed a little to high in the front. when you install them, you have a little room for adjustment before you crank it tight. Sometimes the molding deteriorates so much that gaps become more obvious but yours look real nice.

the 1/4 lines up withthe door fine...I think the window is set to high

Yeah, these moldings were perfect. I actually removed it to check to see if I could align it differently, but I could not without throwing it out of whack on the topside. It's like the entire roofline is too high. Imagine cutting the front post and the rear body between the glass and the rear windshield then dropping it .250. It almost seems like that's where the screw up is. Wierd.

Its up north in pieces.

It had a dent on it when I first bought it, which I made the mistake of trusting Caladesi Auto repair on 19 to fix. COMPLETE BOTCH. It was actually worse off when it was done. So much for a factory paint car. It's still really straight and clean sitting with about 32k miles on it.

Since the paint is no longer original anyways, I thought I would look into what it would take to fix this little issue. I just don't 100% understand what caused this screw-up to begin with.

If you want another pristine coupe and are willing to pay good $ I know a guy that has 2 of them both under 20k miles. I'm 99% sure they are completely stock with factory paint. Let me know and I'll give you his contact info.
