traction bars? you're twisting your springs and then unloading them.

You have leaf springs on the truck, correct? I don't know what kind of traction bars you have, but I know of a lot of guys that run leaf springs swear by the Cal-Trac bars.

What kind of air pressure are you running in your tires? I have never been a big fan of the Nitto drag radials. The M/T, Goodyear and BFG drag radials work a LOT better.

What kind of converter do you have? Stall? Does the tranny have a break?

if you drive this truck all the time as a daily driver go with the 3:55 or if you often go to the track and dont mind the high rpm's go with the 3:73 i would.
