Where the hell's the fuel pump realay
on my '93 4-banger? I got it to the fire up stage yesterday but the fuel pump doesn't prime when the key is turned on. I checked the safety shutoff in the trunk and it is OK. Fuses look good. Checked on the passenger side strut tower where I thought the relay should be...nope, not there, checked under the driver seat where it is on my '91...nope, not there like it isn't supposed to be. However, there is a strange metal gizmo under the passenger seat that looks like it is mostly heat sink. What the hell is that and is it somehow related to the fuel pump relay? I'll check for current after work at the fuel pump wires. Failing that or not finding the relay, I guess I'll have to drop the tank and check out the fuel pump itself.
Damn 4-bangers act like they aren't even related to a 5.0.

the gimmic under the passenger seat is the amp for the stereo
thought it belonged under the driver seat. make sure that the power acc. relay is in place/working. it's up by the computer.

Well, the "gimmick" is under the passenger seat...wrong seat and is about 4x6 or so. Could be an amp of some sort but looks oem. Do 4 bangers come with an amped up syster to compensate for their shortcomings?
The '93 5.0's and possibly the '92's have the relay on the passenger shock tower, not under the driver's seat like the earlier 5.0's. There is nothing there and no dangling plugs that I have found.
$hawn, are you talking about under the fender where the vacuum ball is? I guess I could peel out the liner and see if anything is in there. Da bitch has got to be somewhere. Oh, and yeah, I know that it's green. I've replaced a bunch of 'em on earlier cars but these DIS '93 4-bangers are strange contraptions.
Damn, I feel like whazzup17...I have a quashtion....

OK...black multi-function box....is that the mysterious gismo that's bolted onto the side of the passenger shock tower? It's about 2"x3" or so and has a giant plug coming out of it with about 1000 wires. The plug for the O2 sensor comes out of it too. Do ya suppose that one of those multi-functions that it does is a fuel pump relay? I didn't know what it was & just assumed it might be something for the DIS...which I don't understand either.
