Default Why do t-5's??

Break

Actually that isnt my question so much as when they do break I notice people snap input shafts or even break main shafts. I've seen them break teeth off the gears and who knows what else.
What I haven't heard people doing much of is breaking/sheering shift forks. This does happen occasionally to people who shift hard and don't have a positive stop shifter.

I've had problems breaking t-5's but not killing the normal things. I've mainly hurt syncros and shift forks. I have a pro-50 shifter with the stops adjusted as the intructions and people say.
Why else would you kill shift forks? Or syncros even?

T-5s are not meant to handle what you are putting through them. You just need to set-up and buy a more expensive trany. Then you can come back here and ask why TKOs are breaking in strange ways....

Stock t-5's can only take so much hp, 4cy t-5's can take even less heres a website that tells you what year your t-5 came from what all the gear ratio's are and how much hp you can put to them before they go BOOM!!!!http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...p/index2.shtml

Hope that helps

I appricate the link.

As for the amount of power they can hold I do believe that would be an issue if I was breaking the things that I mentioned above. The shift forks and syncros aren't breaking because of power.

Dave that makes a good bit of sense on the rpm thing. I never really considered the rpm that I shift at being the issue.

Can anything be done to help it shift at a higher rpm? Or to extend the life of the syncros? Do the g-force t-5s have anything special about the syncros or shift forks compaired to a normal t-5?

Oh and i'm in the middle of putting another t-5 in my car. The one from you but the bearing collar is messed up. I didnt think much of it because I have like 4 broken trannys here. But the damn collars off them doesn't fit the bearing on it. I need to find a good collar!

Hopefully be out at the track wensday.

T-5's can only handle around 300 hp.
