460 or 351W in a Fox?

Default 460 or 351W in a Fox?

I can get either a 460 or 351W for around $200. As far as I know both are unknown mileage and stock.

go with the 460. i built a 460 powered 85 tbird a few years ago

Are you going to leave them stock whichever way you go? If so, it wouldn't matter which you choose because it would be a waste if they're left stock. Tear them down and build them up. 460 if you go all motor or a carefully planned 351W stroker on motor or power adder. The 460 is a lot heavier. You'll need a very stout transmission to handle the torque. Don't just go throwing shit together. Research what works and what doesn't or you'll be one pissed off individual in the end.

If money is not a problem, then go with the 460! dont see alot of big block fox's around. But want to count pennys then stick with a windsor

I had the same dilema. I went with a 351w only because there is a much larger selection of aftermarket parts and there are alot of parts that interchange with the 302. But..... a stroked up and blown through 460 would be a monster.

id go with the 460, i had a prostreet 84 that ran 7.90's, but i had a shitload off money in it.
you can keep the stock bore, just put a cam and a good set of heads on it, carb and intake and youll be real happy with it

351w punched out to a 408 if you want to spend a little money... lots o fun...
460 if you want to do minimal work, yet still have a good chunk o HP.

yeah with the 460 u would just put gas in and go. just some minor workdone to it for fun. the 351 would be a bit more open to modification if your looking for more of a project

Knew guy who had a 460 in a fox. motor had ported stock iron heads, stock cast iron intake. Car was a monster, never got traction yet still ran low 7's at sunshine. Torque just slammed you in the seat.

Its just what you want to do and how much money your looking to spend. 351w you can get a TKO600, behind a 460 your pretty much stuck with a built C4 or C6. I don't know of anyone making a 5spd that will bolt to the back of a 460 that is worth a damn. I have a 5speed in my truck behind its 460, but its a 4speed with a granny gear.
