ok im doing my 5.0 swap and now comes time for the speedo i was tolled that i cant use one from a 90-93 and i would like to know my the 89 140mph and hard to get and cost lots of money is there a way to mod the 90-93 speedo.

 

Well If This Helps I Just Bought A 93 Four Banger That Was Converted (never Finished) And The Guy Told Me That If I Want To Change Out The Cluster It Has To Be From An Airbag Car Otherwise It Wont Work. I Would Imagine It Works The Same The Other Way No Airbag Car No Airbag Cluster. Dont Know If That Helps But I Know Shawn Knows Alot About This Shit Find Him In Here Somewhere. If You Look For About 2 Min You'll Find A Post From Him, He Seems To Know The In's And Out's Of This Petty Shit.

 

Yeah there was a guy on corral that did it, and he spent numerous amount of hours jumping wires to get the dash cluster to work, your best bnet is to buy one, you can get them on ebay fro around 100.00 and I know there in one on corral now for 150.00. But as said, its too much of a pain in the ass to do it to cut the harness, jump wires on the cluster, and hope that it works.

i have a 89 5.0 cluster 85mph...If that will help ya out LMK...

 

Everything but the tach and speedo are the same from 4 to 8. Check on Ebay and you may find one.

 

could i just use a speedo from the 90-93 cluster and get a white face kit and use my other 89 cluster stuff (fuel,oil,water,volt,tach)i just want the 140mph speedo and i also want white faces.

 

The four cylinder tach will not read correctly. The air bag speedo will have a rounded spot on the bottom and the non air bag ones are squared off.

Yes that should work. We did smoething like that once but can't remember exactly how we converted it.
