potential ford newbie with a bunch of questions.
I am looking for a nice clean foxbody and would much prefer a notch. However, it seems hard to find a notch in decent shape so I may have to settle for a hatch. Here are a couple questions I have. Feel free to answer them or not. I've done some searching around but still havent found exactly what i am looking for.
1. what is the weight difference between a notch and hatch?
2. Do they make fiberglass hatches or even fiberglass trunk lids for notches?
3. If I were going to go carb in a car that was originally efi would it be hard to keep the guage cluster functinal? In other words would the tach and speedo still be able to work or do they need to be run from the ecu?
4. Is there a good website with the wiring schematics of a fox?
5. Is there anything in particular I should look out for when shopping for a fox?
6. Is there an easy way to tell the difference between and 7.5 rearend and an 8.8? in case I find a car already swapped?
Thats about all I can think of right now. ill post more as they come to me. Thanks for your help.

#1: 100-125# at the most
#2 yes they make both, pin off and bolt on
#3 yes you can keep them, the speedo is mechanical, and tach doesnt matter and tach is ran off the coil
#4 im sure there is, dont know any off the top of my head
#5 the usual stuff, no signs of wreckage or abuse, northern car, there are slight differences over the years between cars, its mainly personal preference to some ppl. I happen to like 91-92 the most.
#6 only way I know is the acutal size is different.
When I was looking for one, there was a very optionless 88 blue coupe at the corner of westshore and kennedy. Guy wanted a bit much for it, but it was in fairly nice shape. It had no options other than cruise control and a/c

If you get a coupe, don't worry about a fiberglass trunk unless yours is rusty. The steel trunk is so light it really isn't worth the price to save a pound or two with the fiberglass.
I run a standalone EFI setup in mine and have all the factory gauges working. I used a Haynes manual to find the wires for the various gauges and just wired those straight to the sender. Very easy.

if your not going to mod it, an 88, speed density car was the fastest, if you will mod it get an 88 calif. car, one already converted to mass air or an 89 or newer, if you want to be a real baller you would get a nice clean 79 to 86 coupe, like my sig. welcome to the ford family, well soon welcome that is.

I plan on moding it and ditching the efi... and the 302 for that matter
