I had the same problem with my 88 and it was my tps.

Well my hood did slam down onto the TPS retaining bolts because my intake sits on a 3/8 inch spacer so the throttle linkage doesnt catch on the taller valve covers.... which is unfortunant because if the TPS is bad, and I buy a new one, I will keep destroying them when I close the hood of the car

I cant, because the linkage gets caught up on the valve covers oh god not a fiberglass hood

take out the liner, and use a digrinder and cut out a spot for the tps, thats what i did
