I have ran a CenterForce Gold (which was a joke, but then again at that stage I really had no clue what I was doing) it didn't last long, then later a Dual Friction (which I didn't have long and smoked at Fun Ford Weekend back in early '96), then I ran a Zoom Kevlar (which I was pulling the tires with, running 11.4s, late '96). In my present car, PBF put in a RAM 900 Series clutch (on a bone stock motor though) when they installed the Tremec TK500 and Lakewood Bellhousing. That clutch grabbed hard, but there was no slipping it and I hated driving it on the street. When I later pulled it out to put in another Zoom Kevlar, I noticed the Surface of the pressure plate had alot of cracks in it. I was using a billet steel flywheel at the time too that PBF had added. Later I heard that the RAM 900 pressure plate requires a special flywheel other then a billet steel flywheel. That may have been the reason why I had driveability issues, ie. lots of chatter and no slipping.

Just some info, so hopefully if someone has any info to add to my experience or has more info it will help you out.

I'm in the same situation, but im looking for one for a T45. I'm also at about 500ish HP.

I'm being told pretty much the same thing about suggestions. It's either the Ram or the Spec 3 for me.

p.s. if anyone knows of one on the market.. lemme know

I had a CF DF and it slipped first time out on DR's and slicks. Switch to a spec stage 3 and couldn't be happier. 7100 rpm clutch dumps and it still chirps 4th on slicks. But it is like a light switch (on/off) on the street so take a little to get used to. -Mark

i was running a spec stage 2, rated up to 520 ft lbs of tq, had no drivability issues, now swithed to a spec stg 3 , it is like a light switch but once you get used to it its not to bad, i'd go for the spec stg 3

I guess I will be the anti SPEC person, with a SPEC stg2 on my 1991 347 with a 150 shot burned the hell out of it, SPEC replaced it on warranty, thats fine...now a couple of months down the road after I put the new one on new flywheel and throwout bearing readjusted the cable and the pivot ball as per SPEC specifications and with about 500 miles on it and started to beat on it, I threw the juice on it and I disintegrated it, literally... broke the the fibers off the clutch disk, threw rivets around all in my bellhousing, manufacturers defect is what they said, nevertheless, they replaced it again, after I got the new disk, I sold it on ebay with the pressure plate and then went with the centerforce. Surprisingly, I did not have aproblem with it back then squeezing it on the bottle. No problems, no worries, this was well over five years ago, to this day that clutch kit is still in action and having no issues. So some people have had problems with them, I have not, this is a big ongoing issue on the corral, and it seems like it is about 25-25-25-25 between the users of RAM, SPEC, Centerforce, and the good ole King Cobra. Now the shit from what I hear is the King Cobra disk with a Centerforce DF pressure plate is supposed to be TITS, there is a guy on another board StreetCarForums.com, running that same combo, and is blasting away at low 9's on that setup.

Dude this was a while ago, were talking maybe high 300 horsepower, and the stage 2 was recommended, and replaced with another stage 2 by SPEC, who knows my combo. The stage 3 is also suppose to have a billet steel flywheel used with that clutch system, and about 5 years ago billet steel flywheels were going for well over 400.00. I wasnt game with that.

my stg 2 recently was swapped by SPEC for a stg. 3 and dan at spec said that a steel flywheel is recommended but the factory flywheel is just fine as long it ha been turned prior to installation and it has a run out of no more than .002"
