Default Transmission question

I have 96' Explorer 4.0 automatic w/106k, and when I checked my transission fluid today (which I replaced and got new filter, etc. 3 months ago) and it had metal shavings in it. Also, it has begun to shift harder rougher, and when I floor it and it downshifts, it will rev higher and then come down again like it's a little bit. I was wondering if my trans. is about to go, and how much longer I have.

it is on its way out
High mile ford trans like old fluid. Just add more whe they need it. All that varnish keeps them together. Baby it as long as you can.
Just my opinion..... There are trany experts here that will have better info
