Default Not again WTF this is getting annoying and depressing

OK this is the third time this motor has had problems so I went out and spent the money to have my machine shop build it. I gave him a virgin 5.0 yyy block and my crank rods and pistons. He charged me 600 bucks to do everything clearance block for 347 assembly, line hone for D.S.S. Girdle, bore block to fit pistons, cam bearings, core plugs, including bearings and pistons rings. So i got the short block back about 2 weeks ago and this is what it looked like.

And this is what it looked like after i put the long block together

OK so a week goes by the car is running great tranny is working perfect I had a couple problems with the starter but Joe from ford speed hooked me up. Tuesday night Wednesday I relashed the valves checked all the plugs changed the oil and jetted the carb 71 - 78 with a 4.5 power valve and 31 - 31 squirters. I took it to the track and first pass was a 7.462 but with a 1.8 60 foot the car should do 1.5's or even 1.4 with the suspension i have done. made 2 more passes 1 a 8.0 and 1 an 8.3 last pass car started to miss car never got above 185 i found some water in the oil so i pulled the heads and found this

I talked to a bunch of people about this everyone seams to think the rings were not gapped right and they butted together but even if so there Je/SRP pistons but I guess anything is possible. I'm supposed to take it to the machine shop in the morning to have them take it apart. there are 2 broken pistons and 6 have hair line cracks

looks like your top ring land is broken on that one cylinder. That is from the rings not being gapped right or put in upside down or something. the heat at the top of the piston will expand the top side more and if the gap isn't correct it will crack that top groove. I think....that sucks bad...

So should the machine shop replace my motor? I mean come on 2 pistons are broken and 6 out of 8 have hair line cracks in them i'm not using any of them and i want 8 new pistons and them to rebuild the motor again or is this asking to much the motor had 232 miles on it when i went to the track. i understand a race engine does not really have a warrenty but come on this is builder error not my fault.

I had a problem with some cam bearings that were installed and went back to the machine shop and made them correct it. If they built it and speced it then yeah I would go back to them and make them correct it. I don't know if you will be able to get what you want but it is definately worth the rant...and then find another shop!

did you tell them it was gonna be raced at the dragstrip? if you did, you might as well hang it up. no one will gaurantee a raced motor. but if the shop is big on cust. sat. then they may fix it
